Stressful Times ....

So it's exam time for me, and although I'm not feeling too stressed at the moment - Tilly is definatley picking up on it. She's recessed into her prey-drive towards smaller dogs again - and I'm going to have to sort it out!
The thing that is strange (but hopeful) about the situation is that she sniffed the dog, stood over it and then jumped on it. She doesn't do any damage, and it's all noise - but when I shouted, she jumped off and ran away like it was a game - so it isn't true aggression - in a way, she's playing with them.

If a small dog is running, she generally ignores it. If a small dog goes for her or barks at her she ignores it.
But if it doesn't move she gets confused. It's almost like "Why aren't you moving/barking/snapping?" Because she has been attacked so many times it's almost like she's come to expect it!

Anyway - I'm going to be more vigillant as to what dogs I see when walking and am going to see if there are any small dog meet - up or walks nearby that I could take her to to socialize her and make her more comfortable with smaller canines!
I'm also going to work on training a rock-solid recall so that she'll come away from dogs, squirrels, birds, food - anything!! I don't quite know how I'm going to do that yet!!!

Hi there!

It's still winter in the UK and is very cold and wet! We are just getting over a snowy period with lots of the white stuff and ice! We've started to see some sun though which is good, as I would love a run on the beach again!
My mum's had a problem with her knee again so I've been helping out lots! She's just starting to get her fitness back and is thinking of buying a treadmill for her sake and ours! She can get fit and we can get the exercise we need when she can't walk!

My mum has also had some exciting news - she's been accepted into the Cesar Millan Ambassador program which will give her the platform she needs to start her career in the world of dog behaviour and physcology!!

October 2011 - January 2012

I haven't updated this blog in a while! A lot has happened! For starters I came 2nd in a 'Prettiest Bitch' Scruffts heat at Pupaid 2011!! My mum was very proud, even more so after I impressed everyone with my agility skills!

I 've been helping my mum a lot too - she's having a few problems again - but I'm here to help!
She got me certified as a Support Dog, although I don't have the legal rights like dogs trained by ADA UK, I'm still recognized for the important work I do for my mum. I have been improving my task-work in public. I can get distracted!

I have my own Facebook page now and Twitter, so be sure to follow, add me and like me!

Mum has also started to put videos of me on Youtube - I'll get her to see if she can get them on the site!

Busy Months ..

August 2011 - September 2011

Hi guys :)

These last couple of months have been interesting. I was attacked by a Border Terrier! It got tangled up in my lead and ended up strangling us both! Mum had to unclip my lead quickly as the Terrier was hanging upside down!! And she had a naughty GSD with her too! Go mum!
Mum also made me stand next to a big Malamute. I am quite scared of them as one attacked me badly :( But I was good and trusting mum. I sniffed him, sat next to him and touched noses. He wasn't that bad!
Mum has been toughining up on my obedience as well. I don't mind; it's fun! Betsy did a really good 50ft 'Stay' with me the other day as well. She's a good little sister. We went to the beach yesterday and I had a great time! The tide was out and mum threw the ball for me. I love wading in to get it! I also found some lovely dead fish and decided to roll in it!
Mum wasn't very happy - but she said it could've been worse! At least I didn't eat it!
I had a nice run around with Betsy in the sand too. Then we went home and had a bath as we were a bit pongy!
I'm hoping to go swimming next week - I'll have to keep nagging!
